For some reason I thought that if I managed to blog twice within a short amount of time, I might be able to carry on blogging in the long run. Well, if that's the case, it's looking good.
Looking at my Ravelry profile on Friday, I had eight WIPs on the go which is rather more than I am comfortable with. And then, on Saturday, I went and cast on another project. Personally I blame it on the Alpaca Woman. When I last saw her, she was knitting some toe up socks and I got knitting envy. So I've been toying with casting on a pair of toe-up socks for a while.
Recently I bought this from a fellow Raveler:

It's a skein of Fiberphile's 2-ply Squooshy Sock yarn in the colour 'True Heart'. I love, love, love this yarn. Although admittedly not quite as much as I adore Fiberphile's Merino Cashmere Sock. But at this stage, I am pretty much splitting hairs.
Well, in the note that the lady that I bought the yarn from enclosed in the parcel, she said she would look forward to seeing what I knit with the yarn. Which made me laugh, since when do I buy yarn to cast it on?? But her words stuck with me for some reason, I felt as though I should cast the yarn on. So on Saturday I did:

Admittedly I frogged it a few times as my ability to do Judy's Magic Cast on required a few repeats before it looked even vaguely right. But I think we're there now. The pattern is Wendy's On-Hold Socks from her book Socks from the Toe Up.

Posted by: Daisy at December 1, 2009 01:53 PMWhat a gorgeous colour. Knitting envy is a lovely thing, thats why I have some Old maiden aunt now!
Posted by: Sarah at November 30, 2009 05:56 PMVery pretty yarn, no wonder you cast on straight away. 8 WIP arent too many are they, lol!
Posted by: sue at November 30, 2009 12:58 AMBeautiful colour. My favourite cast on for toe ups where you want to increase (rather than short row toes) is the Turkish cast on, one for you to try out in the future!
Posted by: dawn at November 29, 2009 10:25 PMWhat lovely yarn - you can really see what a great twist it has to it. I've been meaning to buy some Fiberphile yarn for *ages*... must watch out for the next update! The toe-up socks look lovely - I've never made a pair, must do that soon too!
