The finished Leaf and Trellis Stole

Ladies and Gentlemen - The Bride and Groom.

Don't they look lovely? It was the most wonderful day, Juju looked stunning in her dress, the groom looked very dapper and everything went wonderfully. A day to be remembered and treasured.

On to the stole as this is, after all, a knitting blog. I can't tell you how pleased I was when it was finally finished. I was adamant that there was no way that I was going to be blocking the stole on the bedroom floor of our hotel room the night before the wedding, I've done that before for a cardigan and it's very stressful. In the end I managed to finish the knitting, graft the border and block it 2 days before we left for the airport. A bit close for comfort but that seems to be my personal and rather unadvisable way of dealing with deadlines.

There was a rather large last minute crisis as I came to the end of the stole. I was working on the border a few weeks before the wedding and by this stage the stole was already rather large and unwieldly. I sat down and picked up the knitting without realising that I was sat on it and I managed to pull out the provisional cast on for the border. Sometimes you just want to cry. This was definately one of those times. I picked up the stitches that I could see, made sure that it wasn't going to ladder and crossed my fingers that it would work out - especially as I was missing about 2 stitches compared to the number that I was meant to have on the needle. Oops. Trust me, trying to pick up a provisional cast on in lace weight yarn is a nightmare. Do NOT let this happen to you.

In the end with a teeny bit of fudging that only us knitters would ever spot, I managed to sew the two ends of the border together and it looks lovely if I do say so myself. I love that stole and my sister deserved every millimetre of it.

Special thanks to Jacs for telling me that this was the stole that I should offer to knit and for convincing me that Sundara Lace was the way to go. She was right on both counts.
