I am a Godmother!!

A week ago I became the godmother of a little girl called Alice. And last night, I got to meet her for the first time. She's gorgeous. I'll have to get some pics at some point, but trust me on this one, she's a stunner... She's also the little girl that I have been knitting the Debbie Bliss shawl for.

Yes, I did finish the border, sew it on (yuck!) and finally sew all of the ends in.

And I am rather pleased with it.

I used and extra ball of yarn to make the body of the shawl as I wanted it to be a little bit bigger than it's mean to be. So I ended up buying 2 extra balls of yarn as I was concerned that the extra length could mean that the border was just that bit longer and might mean that I needed an extra ball to finish the border. Of course that didn't actually happen and so I have a spare ball of the yarn.

To be fair, I often do this as I hate the idea of running out of yarn. One of these days I am going to have to make a random stripey baby sweater with all of my left over balls.

She looked very sweet with it wrapped around her.

Beautiful blanket, love baby things in more intense colors! Left over Baby Cashmerino makes great socks for babies or, with the addition of a couple balls of the yarn, great adult socks!

It's a gorgeous blanket, though I don't think I could sew on an edging!

Amelia, that is just gorgeous! And great news about being a godmother too. I love being a godmother, especially as one of my godchildren loves the socks I knit him.
