Time out

I've decided to take a little bit of time off blogging and possibly off knitting too. I am absolutely not stopping knitting, but I am going to take the pressure of myself for a bit. I think, maybe because of this blog, that I put myself under pressure to 'knit, knit, knit' and then get really angry and frustrated with myself when things don't go the way that I want and my tension is off or I realise that I forgot to do half of my increases on a completed back. I really need to take a bit of a step back and remember that knitting is something that I do because I love it, not for any other reason.

The good news is that I have suddenly accumulated a lot of pictures so you shouldn't really miss me on my blog. After all, one of my secret projects has arrived with its recipient so I can speak about that. And there are a few amazing birthday gifts that I got a few months ago and there's always yarn...

Oh, and there's the Innocent hat project. I worked out yesterday that I have knitted 100 hats to date. Not bad, huh?

If you still have hats to send me or if you have sent me hats but I haven't said thank you, please let me know some time this week. I am planning to do the draw in the next two weeks so you need to make sure that your name is in it to win it. And trust me, there are some nice prizes there.

In the meantime, here are a few more pictures of the some of the hats that have been flooding in from all over the place.

These were from Jacinta.

These are from Jeanie.

Darleen sent these.

And Patricia clearly had rather a lot of Felted Tweed left over from something or other.

Enjoy your break -- I've been enjoying mine!

Thanks again for organising the Innocent Hats knit in, and for posting a picture of my efforts. I did have rather a lot of FT: I bought the 10 colours for the crocheted jacket in R40, the shaping for which proved to be way beyond my my crochet skills.

Embrace your break from blogknitting: I knitted nothing for more than 3 years until earlier this year and returned to the knitted world enthused and raring to go.

Bye for now

In these matters always do what feels best for you ! it is. after all, only sticks and string. I love knitting, and yarn, but have learnt not to stress about it. To keep it my refuge. So, I only do what I can do. I'll finish stuff. one day. if I live long enough.
:0)
Just remember that it doesn't have to be a competitive sport. Enjoy your break. Take care.

Good idea, nothing worse than when a hobby begins to feel like school homework, and of course your own pressure to succeed is the worst kind. Enjoy your time off, but don't give up knitting, you have made some really gorgeous things.

I keep forgetting to send out my batch of hats. I should be able to get them shipped off next Friday, and I'll mail them Express to get them to you as quick as possible.

Good plan. If it's becoming a pressure, there's no point. Enjoy !

I didn't blog or knit a stitch for two months this summer....and I'm glad I took the time off. I was starting to feel the same way...I was knitting furiously and not really enjoying what I was doing in the moment. I hope you enjoy the time off.

Yes, I've been there too. I hope that now you will find all your knitting will go like a dream and you won't be able to resist a sneaky post. I will miss your lovely photography.

Taking a break is suc a good idea when knitting starts to become like that. Have a nice rest and well done on organising all the hats! You must be swimming in them!
