I survived the trip to my grandmother's. I would like to start by saying that I love my grandmother dearly, she is an amazing woman with quite a story to tell and the best of grandmothers. She is also the lady who taught me how to knit so she is way up there on my list of favourite people.
But Grandma does not belive in knitting with natural fibers - she comes from a background where yarn had to be cheap and durable. Which means lots and lots of acrylic. I am glad to report that it is not contagious although my Rowan yarn refused to leave its bag just in case. Jacinta is the one who said that it sounded like an episode of 'I am a Rowanette, get me out of here' which had me giggling for quite a while - hence the title for this post.
My grandmother knits blankets for charity nowadays, she's not interested in knitting much else mostly because she thinks it's too much effort and she doesn't need the clothes. I mentioned this to Debbie Bliss a while back and she kindly gave me a few cones of Baby Cashmerino to give to my grandmother for her squares. Now I am convinced that this is the first time that Grandma has knitted with such luxurious yarn - she was quite taken aback when I gave it to her:)
On Saturday I got to go to Liberty's and meet up with some of the Rowanettes as Stephanie had come over to stay with Polly. Here we all are - the look on my face is thanks to Polly - she was tickling me as the photo was being taken:)

It was really lovely to meet Stephanie after reading her blog for such a long time - and she showed me how to set a sleeve in properly:

I am sparing you the picture of the disaster that was my first attempt at setting in the sleeve on Iris. Now I just need to do the second one.
I was even more lucky as Polly had a birthday present for me:

These socks are fantastic and fit perfectly - these pictures do not do them justice (why is it so hard to take a half way decent picture of a sock on one's own foot??)

I finally finished the garter stitch cardigan which will soon be winging its way to its new owner (I have 3 friends who have had babies in the last two weeks and another one due next week so I am not too worried that anyone will guess what is for who).

And here is a picture of the Debbie Bliss Boat Neck Sweater from the 'Baby Knits for Beginners' book that I have made in Cashmerino Aran for my next door neighbour who had a little girl on Friday. It is a really easy pattern but it also looks really good and I knitted it in less than two days so I am quite delighted.

I'm so jealous that you get to visit with Jacinta! Thanks for all of the pictures. Your baby projects are looking great.
