Knitting and Gardens

I mentioned that I really wanted to finish my mother's cardigan 'Palm' from Rowan 27. Well first of all I managed to forget to bring the pattern with me from the UK so I had to ask Kristine to send me a copy. That delayed me nicely. And then I suspicious at the amount of yarn I had left. Yep, you got it in one, I have run out right at the top of the second sleeve:

But luckily my guardian angel, Polly, has managed to find me another ball of the same dye lot. I love Polly. And Polly is coming over here next week so I should just about be able to finish the cardigan on time. Phew.

In the mean time I shall try to make some progress on Fiona. Here are the colours that I have chosen:

Finally, I met up with Kay the other day. We went to Downtown Yarns where I picked up some Chrystal Palace Deco Ribbon in a beautiful green. Here's a shot of it:

And it will go towards making this bag for someone. I am not quite sure who yet - but I am sure that I will be able to find someone that I know who would like it :-)

And now for a bit about what I have been up to. I went back to Downtown Yarns after my visit with Kay as I wanted to swap some cotton I bought a while back. And on the way there, look at the beautiful garden that I stumbled on:

Well the garden is called Albert's garden and it is located on East 4th Street between Bowery and 2nd Ave and it is gorgeous. I met a lovely man there who volunteers to look after it. Apparently the 2 houses that used to be there collapsed. The site was left to go to ruin until some locals decided to turn it into a public garden. Here are a couple more pictures, just because it was so nice.

And of the pond, complete with goldfish.
