Oh I am so happy. I have finished Jacqui's scarf and it looks really lovely:

Oh and here's another shot, just because I like it so much :-)

It looks so lovely that I keep trying to find a reason to keep it for me. But that's definately not going to happen and I shall be posting it to her later today. And this lovely card will be in the parcel with it:

I decided to go for a wonder yesterday and check out some of the yarn stores, especially as I found out that there was one near me which I hadn't been to yet: Stitches East in Park Avenue Plaza on 52nd. I was slightly confused that I hadn't noticed it as it is on the street where I live but it turns out that it is hidden inside a building and that you can't see it from the street. The store was nice and had some Anny Blatt as well as some Adrienne Vittadini and a lot of other yarns. I can't say that I felt very comfortable in there and although I may go to have a look at some of the yarns there, I would only buy something that I can't find anywhere else.
It was pouring with rain at that point so I ran in to a Pret a Manger. It was just like being back in London on a work day - dash in to Pret, grab a sandwich and run back to my desk. Except that my favourite is called 'Crayfish and Arugula' here rather than 'Crayfish and Rocket'. Oh, and I don't have a desk anymore so I ate it in the subway station, sheltering from the rain.
Then I went to meet a friend for coffee and just happened to walk past Yarn Connection on the way back. And here I finally found the kind of yarn store that I like. The ladies there were really friendly and they have all kinds of yarns, stashed away. They said that Stephen Sheard from Rowan had been by that morning too! Someone said it is a 'no frills, no nonsense' store which I agree with. It was lovely and I was very restrained and only bought the lastest Knitters magazine as well as the Elspeth Lavold Cotton book 'The Sentimental Journey Collection'. Which I have had my eye on since Kay showed it to me the other day. Now I can drool over her cotton patterns :-)
